LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A group of commercial artists with offices in Louisville and Cincinnati are hoping their nationwide hand-painted murals give the cities they work in some flare and something to inspire pride in their residents.
What You Need To Know
- Often Seen Rarely Spoken is a group of five artists based in Louisville
- OSRS created a hand-painted mural for Racing Louisville FC
- You can find their murals everywhere from Morehead, Evansville, Louisville and Glasgow
Five best friends – Jeremy, Ian, Robby, Max and Jacob – are inspiring cities nationwide with just a paint brush and some spray paint.
“Our goal as artists and public artists is to inspire people. So I would hope when someone comes down that road and smacks them in the face, it's bright, it's bold, it's really strong lines,” Jeremy said. “That's what we were inspired by and we're just trying to give that back basically.”
They go by Often Seen Rarely Spoken, a name that perfectly depicts the group of commercial artists who strive for more than just the initial attention
“We come from the street art culture, the graffiti culture and we really feel like it's seeing much more than it's spoken about. There's a lot of confusion or questions and things like that, it just seemed fitting for our collective,” Jeremy said. “You see our work a lot more than we speak about it or than you speak about it.”
Their latest project was a hand-painted mural for Louisville’s only professional sports team, Racing Louisville FC. The mural is located Hog Father Pizza Shop, Racing Louisville FC’s designated fan game day watch party location in the Butchertown neighborhood.
“Painting outside is like a dream job, you know. It's super cool, not to mention I'm with my best friends,” Jeremy said. “But when something like this comes across the table that already has hype, because if you drive around the city you see the bumper stickers or the billboards or the wrapped TARC, and to integrate our business into such a cool thing, it feels very special to us.”
OSRS’s artwork can be seen in some of Louisville's most popular destinations including Nulu, Bardstown Road and the Mercury Ballroom.
They also have murals in Evansville, Indiana at the Old National Bank, Morehead, Kentucky and Glasgow, Kentucky.
“When we get going on a project, it's hard to pull us away from the wall, we're stoked to be there, it's getting closer and closer every hour to the final image which is exciting,” Jeremy said. “Until we can't walk anymore or have to eat dinner, you can't pull us away from the wall.”
The team hopes that their artwork stands out no matter where you may be.

“You're out of town and you go and see one of our walls that resembles the Racing wall, you can say that's the OSRS guys,” Jeremy said.
The group’s next project will be creating a mural in the stairwell of a building at Jefferson Community and Technical College.
