LEXINGTON, Ky. — COVID-19 cases in Fayette County are the lowest they have been in over a year. In June, Fayette County had 287 cases.

“Having fliers left on doors to know that something is coming to your area, you can get the vaccine. And a lot of people just haven't been able to get the vaccine because of time or they just don't know how to do it,” Estes said.

Estes says having grandparents of her own, she understands some of the barriers that may be in place for families who may not understand where to begin.

“My grandparents barely have the internet and so you know it's harder for them to do those things, so sort of that some people just don't have that access or don't have people that can help them,” Estes said.

Owning a theater company in Clark County, Estes says because of the vaccine, things are finally starting to go back to normal. 

“I mean we, for a year, weren't able to do anything. So now that people are getting vaccinated we are able to have performances, we're able to have rehearsals,” Estes said.

With a show in the books at the end of the month, Estes is encouraging Kentuckians to get vaccinated so that her community can finally come back together.

“People are caring and love their neighbors and just want to talk about things that are happening around them, and just being able to talk with people, get people out and involved in the things that are going on in the community,” Estes said.
