Road closure in Lexington

Lexington drivers should be aware that a portion of South Forbes Road will be closed between Manchester Street and the railroad tracks starting Monday. The closure is expected to last three weeks. City officials say the temporary closure is to make way for the Town Branch Trail.

Traffic headed north on Forbes Road will be redirected to either New Circle Road via Old Frankfort Pike or Oliver Lewis Way via Manchester Street. Traffic headed south on Forbes Road will be detoured to either New Circle Road via Leestown Road or Oliver Lewis Way via West Main Street.

People wanting to reach destinations along South Forbes Road that are north of Manchester Street should take Leestown Road/West Main Street.

There will be a special Louisville Metro Council Budget Committee hearing Monday. After weeks of discussion, the full Louisville Metro Council is expected to vote on the proposed nearly billion-dollar budget this week.

In-person prison visits resume

In-person visitation can resume at the Department of Corrections (DOC) Institutions this week. At last update from Gov. Andy Beshear’s office, 76% of adult inmates housed in state custody have been vaccinated. In-person visitation can resume at all DOC state prisons and Department of Juvenile Justice facilities the week of June 20.

Visitors must schedule in advance. These in-person visitation guidelines only apply to DOC’s 14 state prisons and not county jails.
