LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In honor of Pride Month, Louisville City and Racing Louisville will both be hosting a Pride Night at their upcoming matches.

The typical purple and black uniforms will be kept in the locker room this week. Pride Night will feature players decked out in custom gear. Lou City will sport their pride warmup jerseys and Racing Lou kit’s featuring rainbow names and numbers.

Lauren Schuster, marketing and community engagement coordinator for Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC, said both clubs are excited for the events.

“You’ll probably see everyone decked out in their pride merch were super excited about it so hopefully have a lot of support there. We're going to have chances for people to interact with some of these local organizations and learn more about them and give those organizations a chance to educate people on who they are and what they do within the LGBTQ community in Louisville,” Schuster said.

All proceeds from the team's pride merchandise sold online and at Lynn Family Stadium will go towards the Butchertown Neighborhood-based Louisville Pride Foundation.

Supporter groups from both clubs teamed up to start a pride-raiser campaign. For every goal scored between both clubs in June, groups have pledged to donate to the Louisville Youth Group, which creates a space for youth to heal and develop into the LGBTQIA+ leaders of tomorrow.

“Every goal scored in the month of June between both teams whatever amount people have pledged, the total amount goes back to the Louisville Youth Group. The after party at Play, there's going to be a custom cocktail if people order, proceeds will also go back to the Louisville Pride Foundation,” Schuster said.

Schuster said Pride Night is a great way to promote equality.

“With Pride Month being in June and our first ever Racing Louisville Pride Match, it really gives people the chance to sit back and celebrate the good that we do have. We as an organization for both Racing and Lou City just want to give people a place where they can come be supported and loved and celebrated,” Schuster said.

The National Anthem will be performed by Voices of Kentuckiana, a chorus that celebrates diversity.

Pride Night for Racing Louisville will be Wednesday, June 23 as they host NC Courage. Pride Night for Louisville City will be Saturday, June 26 as they host Indy Eleven. Tickets are available for both matches online. (Racing Louisville) (Louisville City)
