LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A new festival is coming to the commonwealth and organizers are hoping it draws thousands to Louisville.
“If you love drinking tasty craft beers, you miss outdoor festivals and you're ready to hang out with your friends, listening to music and having fun, the Summer inaugural Beer Fest at the Frazier History Museum is now on tap,” Andy Treinen, President and chief executive officer of the Frazier History Museum said.
Thousands of people will be flocking to downtown Louisville on August 7 for the inauguaral Summer Beer Fest at the Frazier History Museum’s pop-up beer garden. The beer garden will extend from the north side of the building to the flood wall, occupying parking lots and sections of Ninth and Washington Streets. The festival will run from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.
Louisville Tourism hopes the event will attract people to the area.
“Between Memorial Day and Labor Day we will host 115 meetings, conventions and events this summer. 130,000 attendees at those events, 120,000 hotel room nights and for those of you who don't know we have 10,000 volleyball players who will be in town this weekend so we've got some momentum here,” Cleo Battle, chief operating officer, Louisville Tourism said.
With over 200 specialty beers, food trucks, and live music this event will be one of the largest beer tasting events in Kentucky.
“One of the hardest things about the pandemic has been for our breweries, we go into this to talk to people, to educate them about beer and to engage with them, that was taken away from us, this is a chance to get back to doing what we love,” Derek Selznick, executive director, Kentucky Guild of Brewers said.
General admission tickets are $55 and includes 40 two ounce tastings. The Frazier is also selling tickets for VIP admission to the festival for $80, whose perks include access to the Gateway Garden and the museum’s interior, including three floors of galleries and exhibitions; early festival access, dozens of additional beers, and more. Tickets are officially on sale for the Summer Beer Fest and available online.
