LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) is doing all it can to help feed children.
JCPS announced Tuesday it would continue offering free meals to children 18 and younger throughout the summer. The district also plans to offer food at each of its summer learning and enrichment programs this year.
“JCPS is proud to continue providing nutritious meals for our community’s children over the summer, to fuel their bodies as well as their minds,” JCPS Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio said. “In some cases, the meals our Nutrition Services staff provide are the only full meals the children receive each week.”
JCPS will allow families to pick up "bulk meals" — multiple breakfasts, lunches and snacks — at more than 40 school curbside locations. These pickups will be available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursdays throughout the summer. Bulk meals will also be available at more than 20 mobile sites on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Daily lunches will be available at 11 parks and pools around the city.
Children do not need to be JCPS students to receive the meals.
