There was buzz and chatter on the red carpet inside the Muhammad Ali Center as Louisville got ready for the World Premier of the "City of Ali." Ali’s daughter, Khaliah Ali, was looking forward to this day.

“The piece is very touching and very much celebrates the heart of what this city is: Love and community and good hard work,” said Khaliah.

Fischer served as executive producer on the film.

Ali’s other family members were present as well as Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. Fischer also served as the executive producer of the film and explained the mission they wanted to capture in "City of Ali."

“Tell the story from the perspective of Louisville and Louvillians because Muhammad belonged to the world, but he only had one hometown, and he was proud of it, and he would always say Louisville, Kentucky, the greatest city of all time,” said Fischer.

The documentary goes over Ali’s storied career and emphasizes Louisville-centered stories. "City of Ali" depicts the magic and moments that occurred in Ali’s hometown five years ago during the week of his passing. Ron Brashear, a friend of Ali’s family, said it really captures the mutual love.

“I hope the takeaway from this story will show how all the love came back to this person who was so giving. He deserves all of this. He is a true champion. The name the greatest, not just a tagline, he is the greatest,” said Brashear.

Khaliah hopes that people take the chance to watch the film for themselves during the 5th Annual Ali Festival. She says we need to hear her father’s message, especially today.

“I think his message is needed now more than ever. The message of love, unity and compassion for one another. My father had such a profound sense of humanity. He loved everyone, every creature big and small,” she said.
