LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Hundreds of technicians work inside the Norton Healthcare CPA Lab, getting answers on urgent medical issues.
“And we finally got them in a phenomenal home that matches the phenomenal work that they do on a daily basis,” Norton Healthcare CEO Russell Cox said.
Norton just opened the new, bigger lab in Louisville. Norton Health Care senior vice president Dr. Steve Heilman says will allow them to get test results back much faster.
What You Need To Know
- Norton Healthcare opened a new testing lab in Louisville
- Construction began on the facility last July
- Gov. Andy Beshear toured the lab with Norton officials Wednesday
- The lab will help with COVID testing and treating long-term COVID symptoms, Beshear said
“Getting the diagnosis quickly allows us to treat the patients much more faster and gets them better and healthy,” Heilman said.
The lab also helps with COVID testing. Gov. Andy Beshear praised its role during the pandemic while on a tour Wednesday.
“These folks, right here, have saved untold lives here in Kentucky,” Beshear said.
Planning for the new lab has been in the works for the last decade, and Norton started construction in July last year. Cox said in hindsight, he wishes they could’ve started work before the pandemic.
“We all hope that we will now be prepared for anything that the future throws our way,” Cox said.
Beshear said it’ll still play an important role as we come out of the pandemic with testing and treating long-term COVID symptoms.
“Diagnosing those, understanding them, these services as well as a lot of others are going to be critically important,” Beshear said.
And because the lab does so much more, Beshear said it’ll ultimately help Kentucky get out of the pandemic healthier.
