Myanmar is the country formerly known as Burma and many refugees have settled in Bowling Green.

Father Stephen Lalte one of the priests at the church, served as an interpreter for many of his parishioners, so they could understand how the vaccine worked.

"Language is a huge thing and some people were a little bit unsure about how things would be done, so I asked the people there to explain and then I translated for them," said Lalte.

Vice President of Medical Center Melinda Joyce was also happy with the results of the vaccination clinic.

“Overall people were excited and you could see people smiling through their masks and you could see that they were excited to be able to get the vaccine," said Joyce.

Joyce says that she hopes this is not the last time that The Medical Center and Father Lalte can work together.

“Father Steven is going to be reaching out to other people in the community, other Burmese that may go to a different church," said Joyce "So there will be others that he will be able to talk to so this is definitely going to be an ongoing issue.”
