LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Hard work pays off. That's the lesson we learn from DeSales standout Cole Hoehler . It's how he achieved a 3.9 GPA.
Hoehler told Spectrum News 1, "School has always been one of my favorite things to do. Normally as a kid, you don't enjoy school, but I always enjoyed learning new things, coming up with great ideas and new ideas that people wouldn't think of. So it was definitely a lot easier when you worked harder to find those ideas instead of just reading the book, reading the page."
Hoehler also works hard outside the classroom, excelling on the school's archery, fishing, and bowling teams. He's on the verge of being an Eagle Scout and has volunteered at Norton Children's Hospital since the 7th grade.
Something he says he wanted to be a part of. "I just saw the volunteers in action and saw what they were doing and saw the smiles that they brought to kids down there. and I thought to myself, that's something I would want to do. I want to volunteer. I want to be the person that brings the kids joy."
Cole will study environmental biology at Kentucky Wesleyan and credits his parents for his success.
Hoehler said, "They're a big factor in why I continue working hard in school, continue to prove myself as someone who can do great things on the planet."
We'll look forward to finding out what great things Cole Hoehler can accomplish.
