LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Another winter storm is looming for Kentuckians. Spectrum News 1 meteorologists said that the forecast looks like the next storm starts late Sunday night and ends late Monday night or very early Tuesday morning.

In Jefferson county, people headed to Brownsboro Hardware and Paint for supplies. The owner, Jim Lehrer, said it is a good idea to check your supplies and see if you needed to pick up any winter storm essentials.

“Check your inventory especially on things like ice melt that’s consumable,” said Lehrer. "If you haven’t had to use a shovel in a long time, we haven’t had a real snow event for some years now so make sure you got a good shovel. Have some fun, get yourself a sled, with the snow they are predicting it should be a fun week.”

Helpful items like faucet covers can prevent your pipes from bursting and as we saw this week, products that can help defrost windshields and locks are clutch for people who need access to their cars and trucks.

“We stock up on all those items, those key items, we got product coming from all over the country with different suppliers,” said Lehrer. "So we’ve been able to stay in stock on the ice melt, shovels, and sleds.”

Lehrer said that at his store they have 900 sleds and 450 shovels in stock, but noted demand has been high at hardware and home centers. His advice for people across the state is to reach out to their nearby stores to pick up supplies so you won’t have to worry.

“The big boxes run out of things very quickly so shop local get to your independent hardware store and home center. A lot of those guys have access to different places that the big boxes don’t so they’ll be in stock and just call ahead and see what they have,” he said.
