According to Louisville's Center of Hope Director Johanna Wint, some homeless shelter workers have been vaccinated while the homeless who are identified with group 1C have not been able to receive the vaccine just yet.

“With the number of people that are in 1C, and the number of people in the city that have to get vaccinated, we are probably looking at mid to late summer,” Wint said.

Another issue that has arisen lately is the number of cases within the homeless population. Despite the work that has been done to follow all the guidelines, it is impossible to keep tabs on everyone.

“They are a little bit concerned about when they will get it and how that process will take place,” said Wint. “So we just tell them to be patient, and as we get more information, we will share that with them, but many of them are anxious to get it.”

Gov. Andy Beshear stated on Tuesday in a press release that Kentucky is expected to receive an increase in its COVID-19 vaccine supply.

“We all want to get back to some sense of normalcy and hopefully that vaccine will help us do that,” said Wint.
