LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Hillard Heintze, the firm which conducted a top-to-bottom review of the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), will share its findings on Thursday.

According to a media advisory from Mayor Greg Fischer’s office, the Chicago-based firm will share the findings at a 3 p.m. press conference. Fischer, Robert Davis from Hillard Heintze, Public Safety Chief Amy Hess, and new LMPD Police Chief Erika Shields will be present.

Fischer called for the review of LMPD over the summer, saying “It is clear we need to reimagine what policing looks like, and that includes taking deep, hard looks to see what’s working well, and what we can be doing better.”

When Fischer announced that Hillard Heintze would be conducting the review, he said it would look at several areas of LMPD, including use of force, bias-free policing, accountability, supervision, community engagement, and more.

Louisville residents were invited to weigh in on the top-to-bottom review by sending an email directly to the firm with questions, comments, and concerns. 

Hillard Heintze's completed report will include recommendations for an LMPD Strategic Plan.
