LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Ford Motor Co. is shutting down its Louisville Assembly Plant temporarily on Monday due to a supplier part shortage, impacting around 3,900 hourly workers in Kentucky.

Louisville's plant helps produce the Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair and due to a global semiconductor shortage, Manufacturing and Labor Communications Manager Kelli Felker said UAW members will be off work Monday through Sunday.

Felker said hourly employees impacted will be compensated during the idle week.

"They will receive approximately 75% of their gross pay during the down time," Felker said.

The company scheduled a "down week" next Monday through Sunday. It is unclear right now whether the idle period will be extended.
