LEXINGTON, Ky. — One organization in Lexington is working to help keep the homeless warm this winter, setting up tables full of free items to help anyone in need.

Church Under The Bridge in downtown Lexington sets up tables at 1 p.m. every Sunday outside of a church at 203 East Fourth Street with donations from the community.

“Never forget where you come from because you might have to go back. That's why it’s not good to talk about people because it might come back on you,” Church Under The Bridge member Demarkus Davis said.

Some items include meals such as sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, cookies and muffins or even some clothing items like socks and shoes. As the weather gets cooler, the organization says hand warmers, hats, gloves and jackets are their main donation they are in need of right now.

“Because everybody has a story to tell nobody knows why they’re in the shape that they're in but them and the Lord up above so we’re not here to judge we’re just here to help people who are in need,” group member Carolyn Givens said.

Church Under the Bridge has been setting up tables for the homeless every Sunday for a couple of years. They said during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is more important now to give back to the homeless community.

Those interested in donating can contact Carolyn Givens at 859-533-6437.
