LEXINGTON, Ky.— One Christmas tree farm in Lexington is making changes to their due to COVID-19. Barker’s Christmas Tree Farm is already booked for 700 reservations and are excited to invite families back onto his farm even during this pandemic.
“Everyone wants to come out and get the biggest and best tree first. So, we needed a method to control the crowds. And then for COVID and the crowds for us to sell our reservation system this year is. We've already scheduled 700 people to come out over a three day period,” said Dale Barker, owner of Barker’s Christmas Tree Farm.
This year with COVID-19, Barker has added hand washing stations, hand sanitizer around the farm, and is asking customers to make reservations before coming to get their tree.
“With COVID I can find one silver lining. It kind of pushed us into the reservation system. We've always been first come first serve. But that created problems also, we live on a dead-end road with neighbors on pasture so we had to figure out a way to get the cars off the road,” Barker said.
They are encouraging Kentuckians to make plans early this year because their reservations are filling up quickly. Barker’s Christmas Tree Farm in Lexington is still accepting reservations for November 28 and 29t At the end of the month, Barker says he will reevaluate and reopen a few more days if there are still available trees for purchase.
