DEARBORN, Mi. — Ford Motor Company issues a safety recall for certain 2013 through 2017 Ford Explorers.

The Explorers, especially in areas where corrosion is possible, have experienced fractures of the outboard section of the rear suspension toe link after a prior safety recall repair.

A fracture of a rear toe link can diminish steering control and increase the risk of a crash.

There are 13 known reports of accidents, six with injuries, related to the problem. These Explorers were built by at the Chicago Assembly Plant between Sept. 4, 2012 and Jan. 25, 2017. 

If your Explorer is involved you should take our vehicle to the nearest Ford dealer where they will complete a torque inspection of the cross-axis ball joint and replace it as necessary. You can find out if your vehicle is affected here.
