SPARTA, Ky. — The Kentucky Speedway lost its spot on NASCAR's schedule, according to a statement from the racetrack's Executive Vice Preisdent and General Manager Mark Semindinger.

“We’re disappointed the Bluegrass State is not on NASCAR’s schedule,” Semindinger said Tuesday night. “There are still wild adventures ahead.”

The announcement came before NASCAR announces its venues and dates for 2021 Wednesday afternoon.

Kentucky hosted its first Cup Series in 2011, hosting a tripleheader in recent years with races in NASCAR's Cup, Xfinity and Truck Series. Its last NASCAR race was this past July.

The 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway, opened in 2000, will now look to hosting other racing series, special events and music festivals, said Semindinger.
