LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Churchill Downs held its post position draw for the Longines Kentucky Oaks Monday, determining where the nine fillies will be positioned at the starting gate Friday.

To determine each filly's position, Churchill Downs conducted a traditonal "pill pull" where entry blanks are pulled along with a numbered pill. A similar event will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. for the Kentucky Derby.
The post position draw is usually a packed event; however, the coronavirus forced the draw to only allow owners and trainers inside this year.
Gamine is the even-money morning-line favorite for the Kentucky Oaks after drawing the No. 5 post in the marquee race for 3-year-old fillies. Swiss Skydiver will start from the No. 1 post as the 8-5 second choice at Churchill Downs, with Speech at 5-1 from the No. 4 post. Nine fillies are officially entered in Friday’s $1.25 million race to be run over 1 1/8 miles. Jockey John Velazquez will ride the Bob Baffert-trained Gamine, who enters the Oaks with consecutive Grade 1 victories by nearly 26 lengths combined.
The Oaks is scheduled to run Friday, Sept. 4 at 5:45 pm. The Kentucky Derby is Saturday, Sept. 5, with a post time of 7:01 p.m. Neither race is allowing fans.
