LEXINGTON, Ky. — A gym owner is taking his Ninja Warrior training courses and opening up his facility to help students with their non-traditional instruction (NTI) work.
Brendan Kelly, the owner of Ultimate Ninja, says that Monday through Friday, students from grade levels first through sixth grade can come and participate in a camp called Lions Den.
"We want you to get something from it so that's why I call it the Lions Den because I want to create lions here in Lexington, to lead our future generations and having the right mentality,” Kelly said.
The camp runs from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. where students will work on NTI homework, learn new skills on the ninja courses, and participate in a special lesson learning how to achieve goals.
Using all the space in the gym, Kelly says that he can take up to 25 kids per day in the camp, making sure there is enough space for social distancing and keeping everyone safe.
Kelly says the children will be asked to wear a mask while working on the NTI work and will spread tables and chairs out throughout the gym six feet apart from one another to practice social distancing.
“So we're going to use a lot of our floor area for tables and chairs to help us keep the kids' social distance. We're going to practice our social distancing stuff while we're doing our schoolwork and everything like that. And we're also going to practice it while we're doing our Ninja Warrior stuff as well,” Kelly said.
