- Newly-opened businesses located on Main Street
After two women lost their jobs due to the pandemic, they decided to work together and start their own restaurant in downtown Paris called the Rose and Thorne Pub.
Co-owner Ricki Rose says that opening up a restaurant in general presents challenges, but opening up during a pandemic is harder. The two women would not have been able to open up in the middle of a pandemic if it weren't for the support they received from community members.
“It’s never been my dream. Never been my dream to open a business, but the opportunity knocked, and we thought we would be silly not to try. We have a faithful following of family and friends here, ” Rose said.
Rose and Thorne were only one of 10 different businesses that participated in the ribbon-cutting and invited customers into their shops Friday. Some of the different places included restaurants, bars, and boutiques. All the locations are located either on or near Main Street in Paris.
The ten places that opened up included Citizen Newseum, Countryside Creations, Fancy Flamingo Boutique & Co., Frontline Sanitation, Noah’s Brickhouse Pizza, The Parsonage, Bourbon Boutique on Main, Veg Out, Gypsy Wings Boutique, and Rose & Thorne Pub.
