LEXINGTON, Ky. — Several more branches of the Lexington Public Library will reopen next month at a reduced capacity.

What You Need To Know

  • Three more branches of the Lexington Public Library to reopen next month

  • Beaumont, Eastside, and Tates Creek to join Northside branch which reopened in July

  • Curbside service is still available at all branches

The Beaumont, Eastside, and Tates Creek branches are set to reopen Sept. 8, joining the Northside branch which reopened in July. The branches's temporary operating hours will be Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Library said it will continue to keep up with guidance from local, state, and federal officials.

While the buildings are open, curbside service is still available at all Lexington Public Library locations. Curbside customers should use the Library website to place items on "hold," and they will receive a notification when the items are ready. Customers can also call 859-231-5500 to request items.

In July, Lexington residents borrowed over 30,000 items and a record high of over 70,000 digital items such as eBooks, eAudiobooks, and eMagazines through the Library's Libby and Flipter apps.

With the new branch reopenings, residents can also access public computers, fax machines and scanners, printers, and other library services.

“Our efforts at the Northside Branch created a roadmap for safe library services across the city,” said Executive Director Heather Dieffenbach. “Our staggered reopening plan is a fluid one and is designed with the safety and wellbeing of all library stakeholders as our number one priority.”
