CINCINNATI, Oh. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in Cincinnati seized thousands of counterfeit 3M masks headed for Texas.
The package was shipped from China and listed its contents as masks.
Agents flagged the package, which had a declared value of $500, for inspection
When agents opened the package they found 2,000 counterfeit 3M masks — a trademark violation.
Because of the number of masks, the value was listed at $2,000. This many real 3M masks would have a Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $7,000.
The package was being sent to a home in Austin, Texas.
“Cincinnati CBP screens freight from all over the world,” said Richard Gillespie, Cincinnati Port Director. “Our officers are highly trained and work around the clock to protect the people of the United States.”
