FRANKFORT, Ky. — Monday was the first day of testing at the first drive-thru testing site in Kentucky at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. 

People seeking a coronavirus test go through a virtual screening process based on the Center for Disease Control Prevention guideline to see if they are eligible. 

Those who are first eligible for testing are healthcare workers, first responders, seniors 65-years of age or older, or those with chronic health conditions such as heart disease, lung disease or an immune system lowering condition like diabetes. 

Those who are eligible receive a confirmation with information about pre-appointment paperwork to complete. When a person arrives for testing they need a photo ID and must leave their window rolled up for check-in until a healthcare practitioner comes to the car to provide the test. 

The drive-thru testing will feature a self-administered nasal swab that must be ordered and observed by a provider. 

Test results are expected to come back within approximately 48 hours. The Franklin County Fairgrounds is expected to run 250 tests a day.
