LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Hearts across Louisville are being melted this Valentine's Day weekend by the award-winning barbershop group, "The Thorougbreds."

The more than 70-year-old organization is delivering singing Valentines to lucky sweethearts and offices across the area.

"We go from an intimate setting in someone’s living room and sing to them, and then we sang to forty or fifty people and entertain the masses and have a blast," Frank Sellinger tells Spectrum News 1.

The entire Thoroughbred group is big, more than 30 active members and most will be traveling to Los Angeles, California this July for an international barbershop competition.

“Groups will come from other countries to compete and we compete, really to see who’s best," said Craig Bishop.

And before you think reaching such a high-level of success is new for this decades old group, thank again. The Thoroughbreds have won Gold at the international competition seven times.

The cost of ordering a singing Valentine will help pay for 25 members of the group to travel and compete in California. Before singing for a chance to win, three quartets were winning over hearts the like of Claudette Slater.

“It’s just amazing and it makes you feel wonderful inside and loved. It’s just beautiful music," Slater told Spectrum News 1.
