LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A group of talented designers, coders, and artists get together in the evenings to share ideas and, they hope, turn Louisville into a video game development hub.

Louisville Makes Games is a co-space in the heart of the city where members collaborate and create video games at their own pace. Some are trying to make it big. Others just enjoy the creative process.

"For us to make game development a viable career in Louisville we kind of have to start our own companies; start our own little start-up studios," said Alex Bezuska. "And, so, we kind of shifted to more of fostering this community of people who are interested in making games."

Bezuska is a founding member of LMG and has seen its nearly five-year growth.

Though it is a nonprofit, membership costs $100 a month. That grants 24-hour access to the office, as well as a network of past and present successful developers. Bezuska says some past members continue to donate long after moving away, including one current Bungie developer who Bezuska holds up as a shining example of how far local talent can go. For many of the innovators at LMG, that local talent is used in every step of the process, including original artwork and music.
