LOUISVILLE, Ky. – TJ’s Warriors, Inc. was inspired by TJ Floyd and his fight after Traumatic Brain Injury.

On April 21^st, 2010, at age 7, Floyd was riding his bicycle when he wrecked into the back of his brother. He flipped over the handle bars and hit his head. Floyd was not wearing a helmet.

Floyd was rushed to the local children’s hospital where he underwent emergency open brain surgery for a severe brain bleed. He spent 63 days in the hospital and ended up having multiple surgeries.

In June 2010, Floyd was released to go home to start his new life after brain injury. His family dedicated nearly 10 years of therapy, surgery, and multiple doctor visits to help him recover as much as he could after his brain injury.

Along the way, the Floyd family recognized the importance of brain injury awareness, as well as helmet safety awareness. After hitting many hurdles, the family realized the lack of services and events for survivors and their families.

The mission of TJ’s Warriors, Inc. is to protect children from brain injury one helmet at a time.
