CARROLTON, Ky.  - The countdown to Christmas has begun. Kentucky State Parks have all sorts of celebrations across the state for families to get into the holiday spirit.

One of those is the Festival of Trees happening this weekend at General Butler State Resort Park in Carrolton. It's been a holiday tradition for the past 30 years. Each year you can catch new decorations thanks to changing themes. The theme this year is Country Christmas.

"It's beautiful. There are 21 trees that are set to be over the course of this week. It will be glittery, Christmas themed and wonderful," Haley McCormick said.

General Butler State Resort Park in Carrollton will present the Frozen Wonderland and Festival of Trees Saturday Dec. 7. Frozen and other holiday characters will be available for photos during breakfast. Hours for the breakfest buffet are 8-10:30 a.m. inside Butler Lodge Two River Restaurant. Regular pricing will apply. After breakfast, make your way to the Lodge Mezzanine from 9 a.m. to noon to take in the holiday season with Festival of Trees. The trees and wreaths are decorated by local business, civic organizations, schools and churches.
