LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Gregory Bush, the man accused of killing two people at a Jeffersontown Kroger grocery store, is going to be re-evaluated by Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center (KCPC).
Bush was found competent to stand trial for the crimes in July and a judge was to decide whether or not to accept the findings in the competency report on October 31, 2019. However, a hearing did not take place instead Bush was re-referred to KCPC.
A status hearing is scheduled for January 14, 2020, when it will be decided if a formal competency hearing will be scheduled.
Bush faces state and federal charges for the October 24, 2018 murders of 69-year-old Maurice Stallard and 67-year-old Vickie Lee Jones. He has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder, two counts of wanton endangerment, and one count of attempted murder.
Federal prosecutors could seek the death penalty for Bush. The Department of Justice says the U.S. Attorney will make a confidential recommendation on whether or not to seek the death penalty.
