LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Over 2500 people will take to the Ohio River on Sunday for the Ironman Louisville presented by Norton Sports Health.

The grueling swim, bike, and run is a true test for mental and physical test. That’s why Stephanie Fish, a coordinator with Norton Sports Health, has been training hard the last few months. She’ll be on the other side when she participates.

“I just want to finish and have a good time,” said Fish. “Maybe have a big plate of spaghetti or something when I’m done and call it a day.”

Fish, like the other competitors, will tackle a 2.4 mile swim in the Ohio River, a 112 mile bike ride, and then a 26.2 mile marathon. Fish said she’ll be taking it one moment at a time.

“I tell everybody that’s it is really 90% mental,” said Fish. “It sounds crazy saying that it is only 10% physical.”

Fish’s family and friends will be on hand cheering her on for her first Ironman. Fish said the day means a lot to all of the participants because of all the time they’ve invested to make it all possible.

“You’d be amazed at some of the people who cross the finish line,” said Fish. “It doesn’t always have to be these 2% body fat super athletes. If you have the mental ability to talk yourself through this race to get it done, you can do it.”

The 2019 Ironman Louisville will over 40 qualifying slots to the 2020 Vega Ironman World Championship in Hawaii.
