LOUISVILLE, Ky. -  Rachel Stillwell spends most days lifting others up.

She’s had to lift herself up along the way as well. The Eastern High senior was diagnosed with type-one diabetes when she was three; being hospitalized at least a dozen times throughout high school.

Rachel is involved in the school’s yearbook and is president of the local National Honor Society. But her biggest achievement to date is the hundreds she has impacted who also live with diabetes.

Stephen Johnson is a teacher and Rachel’s yearbook advisor. He and others have watched her start her own business - Dyed For A Cause - that sells tie-dyed clothing, raising $8,000 - and a unanimous matching donation - for Camp Hendon. Rachel and other diabetics have benefitted from the camp… though she never lets the disease define her.

If that wasn’t enough, Rachel also started a Random Acts of Kindness Club, challenging others to do good for others throughout February. Her donation to Camp Hendon means more than 100 new campers get to go this summer… Oh and she’ll be a camp counselor this summer too.

Rachel will attend the University of Louisville in the fall and will study graphic design.
