NEWPORT, Ky. - Riverbend, the Cintas Center, US Bank Arena, these are just a few of the venues in Cincinnati for concert goers to check out shows, but soon there will be another spot for music lovers.
A new music venue will soon sit on the the riverfront in Newport. The venue will be part of the first phase of a new 25-acre mixed use development called Ovation. Corporex Companies and AEG Presents/PromoWest announced the agreement to build the new facility today. Preparations are being made at the site and construction will begin once all the permits are secured.
The new facility will host both indoor and outdoor concerts and estimates are that there will be over 180 events a year. Don't expect a huge arena like venue, instead the new area will host more intimate shows. The indoor venue will hold up to 2, 700 while the outdoor area will entertain roughly 7,000. The concert hall will also sit atop a 550-car parking garage. The Venue Plaza, as it's currently being called, will link to future phases of the Ovation development. It will be connected by a pedestrian walkway over the newly completed Route 9 extension. THe pedestrial bridge will link visitors to restaurants and other entertainment spots on Broadway and Main Streets.
“The Newport location provides AEG/PromoWest the perfect opportunity to expand our Midwest presence to the Cincinnati marketplace,” said Scott Stienecker, CEO of PromoWest. “We intend to bring many of the same groups that play at our EXPRESS LIVE! in Columbus, Ohio, and STAGE AE in Pittsburg, Penn. to Greater Cincinnati.”
