Hailing from Kentucky's 13th District, Kentucky State Senator Reginald Thomas would say that the biggest thing he's learned during his time in office is that government is designed to be a deliberately slow, thoughtful process - legislators make decisions carefully because they really do impact people's lives.
With prominent African American, Hispanic, and LGTBQ+ communities, Thomas says that diversity is what sets his district apart. Someone in his community who is doing great work is the school superintendent, who Thomas says has helped make the local school system one of the best in the nation.
His first job was working at Kentucky Fried Chicken. If he could have lunch with any historical figure, he'd choose Abraham Lincoln.
