Kentucky's 9th District State Senator David Givens would describe his district as a diverse and self-sufficient community that is both rural and urban. He wishes every citizen could have a chance to serve in public office for two weeks to better understand the complex process of creating legislative change.

So far, Givens would say that his biggest accomplishment is facilitating conversations about improving access to emergency healthcare and ambulance services, which can be especially challenging to access in rural areas.

If Givens were not working in public service, he would be a high school teacher. He would spend an extra hour of free time reading, bicycling, and spending time with his family - he loves to watch Harry Potter movies with his children.
