Representing Kentucky's 18th District, State Representative Samara Heavrin's favorite part of her job is meeting different types of people across her district. The biggest thing she's learned during her time in office is that everyone has different issues that are important to them, and as an advocate for 42,000 people, she listens carefully to understand how to navigate their concerns.

So far, Heavrin's biggest accomplishment is securing 10 million dollars in funding for a vocational school where she was once a student - a special achievement to give back to her community. Her top priorities are working together with other public officials to meet her community's needs, especially advocating for families and children.

In three words, Heavrin would describe her district as "supportive, hardworking, and growing." She would spend an extra hour of free time with her dog, Rosie, a golden retriever.
