KENTUCKY — On this week’s “In Focus Kentucky” program, we’re sitting down one-on-one with Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman.

During this segment, Coleman explains how his Attorney General's office supports prosecutors by providing resources to Commonwealth's and County Attorneys. This includes a recent plan that will create a statewide drug prevention program, that is a youth-focused initiative, that fills a hole in the Bluegrass State's fight against an addiction epidemic that has claimed thousands of lives, approved by the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission.

"This will be data based, based on evidence that it works, that it's effective, a prevention effort, targeting kids, targeting our youth, statewide, scaling up. There are some great, smaller efforts across the Commonwealth on the prevention front, but I'll tell you, in push back on the drug crisis, it requires three components. It requires an enforcement piece, and we're going to keep going after those, we in law enforcement, going after those that bring the poison here, the drug traffickers that bring the poison from all of it from over a poorest southwest border with Mexico. That's the traditional drug enforcement piece, which I support. And you'll see us engaged in. There's the treatment piece of this, and that's providing treatment beds," mentions Coleman, R-Ky.
