KENTUCKY — On this week’s “In Focus Kentucky” program, we’re sitting down one-on-one with Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman.

With November’s 2024 General Election just around the corner, there are three ways for Kentucky voters to cast their ballots:

  1. Excused In-person Absentee Voting before Election Day, Oct. 23, 24, 25 and Oct. 28, 29, 30, 2024.

  2. In-person No Excuse Absentee Voting before Election Day, Oct. 31- Nov. 2, 2024.

  3. In-person on Election Day, Nov. 5, 2024.

As early voting starts in the Commonwealth, Attorney General Russell Coleman reminds people they can use his office’s Election Integrity Command Center.

“It is our duty to ensure that we have a free, fair and a secure election here in the Commonwealth, with the emphasis on secure, that’s our role. The election integrity command center is stood up the day of. Our office is working with federal, state and local partners. It is an intake center for complaints and Intake Center for intelligence of irregularities, of criminal behavior in and around our elections. We couple that we have a phone number that is up 24/7 that’s already standing, and the purpose of that is to intake intelligence that we are we’ve already in the primary, taken a look at 42 leads coming in from across the Commonwealth, from the purchase, really, to the mountains for our general election. We also will, the day of election, have detectives. Our detectives will be out and about covering most, if not all, 120 counties just checking in, being a resource. And then couple of days after the election, we’ve all seen it the AG’s office, traditionally drawing the names of 12 counties from a small bourbon barrel that then go through an audit process. And I’ll tell you, we did that after the primary as well. Of those 12, we presented half of those, about six, to grand juries, and there’s been no true bill, meaning no irregularity, no problem, and we’re still waiting to present the other six,” said Attorney General Coleman.

During the 2024 Primary Election on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, the Office of the Attorney General received 36 pre-election day complaints, 44 election day complaints and 18 post-poll closing complaints. You can see the complaints here.
