KENTUCKY — On this “In Focus Kentucky” program, we’re taking a look at Kentucky’s housing shortage.
According to analysis released by the Kentucky Housing Corporation (KHC) earlier this year, every county in Kentucky had housing shortages in 2024 and the state has an overall housing gap of 206,207 units.
State Sen. Robby Mills, R-Henderson, co-chairs the Kentucky Housing Task Force, which is a special legislative committee that is studying and reviewing the current and future policy needs of the state to address access and availability of housing to Kentuckians.
During this segment, Henderson discusses the work of the committee during the interim period this summer to as they have been receiving demographic analysis of housing costs, population and employment opportunities statewide and regionally in Kentucky, while also taking a looking a comprehensive review of state and local laws, regulations, policies and procedures that affect housing and more.
