KENTUCKY — The next legislative session in Frankfort may not start until Jan. 2025, but state lawmakers are keeping busy this summer and fall during this interim period preparing for the 30-day session.
On this week’s “In Focus Kentucky” program, we’re sitting down one on one with state Senate President Robert Stivers, R-Manchester, of Clay County. Stivers joined the rest of Kentucky’s General Assembly members in the National Conference of State Legislatures Legislative Summit in downtown Louisville, which kicked off a yearlong celebration of its 50th anniversary.
More than 4,500 attendees participated in the summit that featured a wide range of educational sessions on topics including artificial intelligence, transportation, the workforce and public-private partnerships, Supreme Court actions and elections at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville.
During this “In Focus Kentucky” segment, Stivers explains why the legislative summit is one of the largest gathering of state lawmakers and legislative staff in the country and shares feedback on the summit, which is a platform for legislators, staff and other public policy professionals to learn from experts, along with each other, about solutions to the country’s most pressing state issues.
