KENTUCKY — During this In Focus Kentucky segment, Daniel Cameron, R-Ky., joins the program to reflect on his four years in office, which included defending the laws of the Commonwealth and protecting all Kentuckians.

“Whether it’s our consumer protection office, whether it’s our office of senior protection or the myriad departments that we have within the AG’s office, we’ve tried to stand up for the values of Kentucky and look out for our citizens and hold accountable any actor out there that might have unfairly taken advantage of the marketplace to leverage their position to hurt consumers to hurt our citizens and we’ve worked diligently on that front,” explains Cameron.

As the 51st chief law enforcement officer for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, Cameron finished his four-year term as Attorney General on Jan. 1, 2024. Cameron first came into office after winning nearly 58% of the vote and 113 of 120 counties in 2019.

To address Kentucky’s drug epidemic, Cameron helped secure legislation that ensures Kentucky receives the maximum amount of money available to it as part of the national settlement with opioid manufacturers and distributors. Under his administration, Cameron defended Kentucky’s “Human Life Protection Act” in court. He also led the effort to keep churches and houses of worship open during the pandemic and much more.

Daniel Cameron is the first African American elected to a standalone statewide office in Kentucky’s history. He is also the first Republican to hold the office of Attorney General since 1948.
