KENTUCKY — It is primary election season here in the Commonwealth.

Three days of early in-person, no excuse absentee voting wrapped up Saturday for this year’s May 2023 primary election and your next opportunity to cast a ballot for primary candidates is Tuesday, May 16th.

During the second half-hour of this week’s In Focus Kentucky program, we are sitting down with the primary candidates running to become the Democratic nominee for Governor of the Commonwealth.

All of the 3 candidates listed on the Democratic ballot for Governor were invited to participate in our 'Conversations with the Candidates' program. The candidates featured in the segment are incumbent Andy Beshear. Candidate Geoff Young also joins the program to to discuss his campaign. Peppy Martin did not respond to our invitation.

Polls are open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. local time on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. If you are in line at 6:00 p.m., you will be allowed to vote.

Kentucky conducts political party primaries before each General Election. In Primary Elections, voters may only vote for candidates of their same political affiliation and non-partisan candidates. In General Elections, voters may choose to vote for candidates of any party.
