KENTUCKY — Candidates competing in the Democrat and Republican Party primaries for Kentucky’s State Treasurer appeared on "In Focus Kentucky" to discuss a wide range of topics and issues ranging from day one priorities if elected, budget transparency, unclaimed property and much more.

During this segment, Mario Anderson spoke with Democrat Michael Bowman of Louisville. Bowman was the Democratic nominee for state treasurer in 2019, losing in the general election to incumbent Allison Ball. Bowman received more than 770,000 votes in the race, amounting to 39% of the vote.

Bowman says he decided to run for the office for a second time because he believes, "Kentucky needs a treasurer who doesn’t just rubber stamp bad policy, but instead focuses on accountability and transparency."

Bowman was the only person to file paperwork to run as a Democrat in the Treasurer's race, so he automatically is the nominee for his party and will challenge the Republican primary winner during the General Election in November 2023.
