KENTUCKY — As the balance of power continues to swing in Washington, D.C., Kentucky Congressman James Comer (R) comments during this In Focus Kentucky segment about former President Donald Trump’s announcement of a third consecutive run for the position of President of the United States.
“Well, he certainly has a right to seek nomination to be President. I know he’s got a big following in Kentucky and especially in my congressional district, so I’m sure that he will be a very viable candidate...I’m gonna wait the process out. I’m gonna be leading all the major investigations, especially the investigation concerning the Biden family influence peddling, so I don’t believe I need to be real involved in a 2024 presidential campaign. I’ll say this. I believe there will be other major candidates in this presidential race. This isn’t a slam dunk for Donald Trump, although he certainly is the overwhelming favorite on day one,” mentions Comer.
Turning to Kentucky’s 2023 Gubernatorial race, multiple candidates have filed their intent to run in the May Republican primary. Rep. Comer explained his support of the Kelly Craft/Max Wise ticket.
“I think they’re doing exceptionally well. I know they’re gonna do exceptionally well in my congressional district. I believe they’ll win my Congressional district and you know, now it’s one of the most Republican Congressional districts in Kentucky. So they’re doing well. They’re gaining support every day. I think Kelly Craft has surprised people with her work ethic, with the way she was being received by people in all 120 counties.. So you know, it’ll be an interesting race. I have several friends running in the governor’s race. But I am 100% for Kelly Craft right now,” adds Comer.
