KENTUCKY — During this In Focus Kentucky segment, Louisville mayoral candidates Bill Dieruf (R) and Craig Greenberg (D) share if they believe there is a wage gap between men and women, or between individuals of different races or ethnicities with Louisville and if so, how they would work to close the gap.
"Yes, I do believe there's a wealth gap. I believe that there's a health gap and we need to address them all. One way to address this is to work with workforce development organizations throughout the community. Kentuckiana Works, AMPT is a great new organization, CODE Louisville," mentions candidate Greenberg.
"The wage gap that we've worked with for 12 years here in the city of Jeffersontown, we have attracted the jobs program incentive program to bring the higher paying wages in here. And since doing that seven years ago, we've increased the wage to $68,700 on the average. Now what that means is we have to be able to have everybody female, male, all different ethnicities, to be able to get that same wage," explains candidate Dieruf.
