KENTUCKY — Jacqueline Coleman (D) is the Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky. But before her time in elected office, she was born and raised in Mercer County and is the wife to Chris, mom to Evelynne, adopted mom to Emma and a bonus mom to Will and Nate.
During this In Focus Kentucky segment, Coleman discusses balancing her time as a public official, but also making the time to spend with your growing family and friends.
"I have not mastered it yet, but I keep working on it. And when it comes to my family, certainly I'm a mother first and a wife first and and this is a job that you don't get to clock in and clock out of. But it's also an honor and I have a very supportive family who the entire time that we we were discussing running for office and we did run and now I'm serving, pick up where where I need them to. So I'm very fortunate," explains Coleman.
Kentucky Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear filed for re-election in the fall of 2021 and has announced that in 2023 he plans to keep Lt. Gov. Jacqueline Coleman as his running mate.
"I believe, as the Governor believes, that we make a great team. You know, he's an attorney and he's lived in Lexington and Louisville, the largest cities in Kentucky and I'm a teacher who grew up in one of the smallest towns in Kentucky. He focuses on economic development and I focus on workforce and so the different perspectives that we have, really come together. We listen to each other. I've been very fortunate to be in a role that where the Governor trusts me, and you see me all over the state of Kentucky on on trips and and on announcements for economic development that he's asked me to do. And so we work really well together and we're going to continue that."
