KENTUCKY — As we inch closer to Kentucky’s primary election day on Tuesday, May 17th, many advocacy groups across the state are helping spread awareness about getting out to vote.
AARP released a new voter guide to make sure Americans aged 50 and older know their options and have their voices heard in this year’s primary election
Charles Williams is the AARP Kentucky’s Executive Council Member, and he joins this week’s program to explain several ways Kentuckians can educate themselves on voting changes, deadlines, how to find their polling place, and the different options for casting their ballot.
“As we go on in to the polls about we want to look at health care issues and Social Security, housing, financial stability, infrastructure, taxes, public health. And so those are the items on the agenda as we go to the polls to vote and select our member of Congress, or Senate or whatever the vote might be about,” explains Williams.
AARP is the nation’s largest nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to empowering people 50 and older to choose how they live as they age. With a nationwide presence and nearly 38 million members.
All registered voters can vote early and in person on the Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the primary. On election day, polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
