KENTUCKY — Georgetown and Scott County remain Kentucky's fastest growing city and county based on 2020 U.S. Census Bureau estimates.

Both Georgetown and Scott County have experienced double digit growth since 2010. As a result, Scott County is now Kentucky’s 17th largest county with a population of just over 56,000 people.

"Since the 2010 census, we're showing about a 21% growth and the Kentucky data center information that we have, reflects that, we're continuing to grow and by 2040, we'll be around 100,000 people here in Georgetown-Scott County. So it's a challenge, but we're grateful for the opportunity and growth. We have managed here to hold on to the small town charm that we've had forever, while continuing to grow and having opportunities for industry and suppliers for Toyota and in different other companies that see Georgetown-Scott County as a great place to do business," says Joe Pat Covington, Scott County Judge Executive.

Joe Pat Covintgon is a Scott County high school graduate, attended Georgetown College and worked as a public educator for 27 years, before running for elected office, as Scott County Judge Executive. It’s a position he has held since 2019.
