COVINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky is home to an estimated 27,620 miles of roadway and 14,000 bridges.
During this In Focus Kentucky segment, State Representative Sal Santoro (R-House District 60) shares details on some upcoming legislative bills he plans to file and advocate for during the upcoming 2021 General Assembly session.
"The Brent Spence Bridge is going to need some funding. But also we're got another bridge that we're finishing, I-69. I'm going to call these mega projects. These are very mega projects that will drain our, our state transportation funding that we couldn't do anything else in the state. You know we have so much funding needs across the state, that you know just in pavement management, we have $200 million a year we need for that. Bridge Kentucky across the state, where we're repairing and replacing some of our bridges, that's $179 million, and also some guardrail issues that we have we put $4 million in the budget. We just have some ongoing needs that we must keep up if we want to keep our roads safe to keep traveled on. We need to fund them," says Rep. Santoro.
