BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Warren County Public Schools broke ground for its newest school.

What You Need To Know

  • The new school will be called “Warren Elementary.”

  • The school’s construction will last for two years, and will open in August of 2025.

  • The school is being built because of population growth in Warren County.

  • According to the United State Census Bureau, the population has increased by over 25,000 people in Warren County since 2010.

Warren Elementary will be built on the outskirts of the city on Brookwood Drive.

According to Warren County Superintendent Rob Clayton, the school will sit on 20 acres of land and will face toward the interstate. The school will also have a big parking lot.

Clayton said a new school was necessary because of the population growth in Warren County.

The United States Census Bureau confirms Warren County’s population increased from 113,792 in 2010 to 139,843 in 2022.

Construction will take approximately two years. Clayton says the plan is to have the elementary school completed by Aug. 2025.

Cory Fish, a parent and fourth-grade teacher, said he hopes the new school will inspire students.

“The anticipation of having a brand new shining building brings so much pride for not only our student body but for our future ‘Dragons’, as we call them, for our kids who have not yet stepped into a school building,” Fish said,

As a dad, the excitement for his daughter is growing.

“Gosh, to think about my daughter going into a school that not only has the latest safety features, has been built with the newest technology that provides the newest opportunities, what parent wouldn’t want that,” Fish said.

Bus driver Melanie Edison said she’s excited to see how this will improve kids’ futures.

“You always remember what elementary school you go to, and I’m so excited for all the children who are gonna be at a new school,” Edison said. “I mean, what an exciting time it’s gonna be for them. But, I’ll miss the old school. But I’m looking forward to new.”
