Throughout his extensive career in journalism, Spectrum News Chief National Political Reporter Josh Robin has asked questions of four U.S. presidents, been at the frontlines of major political events and broke a major international news story involving the separation of immigrant children from their parents.

He now hosts Spectrum’s new digital initiative, “Untangled.” Naturally curious and passionately driven to engage with those around him, Josh is excited lead viewers through today’s thorniest topics and how national issues create very local ramifications.

Throughout his 13 years with Spectrum News NY1, Josh has extensively covered numerous New York City, State and national elections, interviewing all recent mayors and governors. Josh’s work has received various Associated Press and New York Press Club awards, and earned him four Emmy nominations.

He joined the Spectrum News team in 2005 after stints as a reporter for Newsday’s New York City edition and The Seattle Times. He has also contributed to The New York Times, The Daily Beast, BuzzFeed, The (N.Y.) Daily News, Salon and The San Francisco Chronicle.  He decided to become a reporter during a semester abroad in Nairobi, Kenya. As a stringer for The Nairobi Law Monthly, Josh reported on allegations of police brutality near Kenya’s border with Sudan. The experience left him more cognizant of the deep impact that can come with responsible reporting, while also sparking a love for travel that continues to this day.

Josh graduated from Tufts and received a master’s degree from Stanford. He lives in New York City with his wife, the journalist Manoush Zomorodi, and their two children.
